Summary

Scott Florrick is a Starfleet officer assigned to the USS Orion after previously completing his training on the USS Astra.

Appearance

Florrick has a muscular, well-built frame with broad shoulders, defined biceps, and a strong chest. He is handsome, with short auburn hair, green eyes, and a fair complexion. His features are defined by a strong jawline and a straight nose, and his smile reveals dimples that soften his otherwise athletic appearance. He undertakes regular training and enjoys exercise, often getting others to join in as well.

Personality

Florrick is an open-hearted and passionate cadet who wears his emotions openly, often letting his feelings guide his actions. His natural confidence and drive make him a strong and capable member of any team, but his impulsiveness and tendency to quickly fall into romance can sometimes distract him from his duties. A hopeless romantic at heart, he easily becomes attached to others, which can leave him vulnerable when relationships shift. His brief relationship with Jordan Duncan during their time on the Astra was a significant turning point. When Jordan and he ended their romance and Jordan rekindled his relationship with Alfie McCallister, Scott recognised that his emotions were clouding his focus. From that moment, he resolved to take his training and career more seriously, determined to prove that he could balance his personal feelings with the responsibilities of being a Starfleet officer. He is eager to become a captain one day.

Biography

Early Life

Florrick was born in 2381 in New Hampton, the bustling capital city of Kovar. Raised by his two mums, who owned and ran a popular restaurant in the heart of downtown, Scott grew up surrounded by a warm, supportive community. His childhood was a happy one, filled with music, laughter, and the constant hum of the city around him. A bright student, he excelled in many subjects at school, showing both academic promise and a creative spark. From an early age, Scott developed a love for music, teaching himself to play the guitar and sing. During his teenage years, he and a close group of friends formed their own band, often performing at his parents’ restaurant to enthusiastic crowds. Among them was his best friend and first boyfriend, with whom he shared both a strong personal bond and a musical partnership. Their relationship lasted several years, but as they approached graduation, their paths began to diverge. While his boyfriend planned to study at New Hampton University, Scott was determined to pursue his dream of joining Starfleet. Faced with the choice, Scott ended the relationship and set his sights on the Mellstoxx Campus of Starfleet Academy, ready to begin the next chapter of his life.

Starfleet Career

Starfleet Academy

Florrick’s years at Starfleet Academy were marked by determination, growth, and the occasional distraction. In his first year at the Mellstoxx Campus, he threw himself into his studies, quickly finding a passion for forensics and small group tactics. While his focus was tested by a handful of romantic encounters with fellow cadets, a demanding survival training exercise left a lasting impression on him, especially the squadron leader he quietly admired. Though he never revealed his feelings, that leader inspired him to push harder, and Scott’s renewed drive earned him a place in Bravo Squad, Mellstoxx’s elite training unit.

His dedication was further rewarded in his third year when Bravo Squad was reassigned to the Kovar Annexe, an extension of the Academy close to his home city. Being back on Kovar brought unexpected changes: he rekindled his relationship with his former best friend and bandmate, and for a time, they found happiness together again. However, Scott’s acceptance into a prestigious field training assignment in his fourth year forced him to make another difficult choice. Assigned to the USS Odyssey as it prepared for its mission into the Delta Quadrant, Scott once again ended the relationship, deciding this time he would keep his focus solely on his career and avoid becoming entangled in romance.

Aboard the Odyssey, Scott’s professionalism and commitment impressed many of the crew, while his camaraderie with other cadets earned him trust and respect. By 2402, his midshipman training advanced further when he was reassigned to the USS Astra, a newly commissioned Protostar-class vessel serving as the Odyssey Squadron’s cadet training ship. As one of the most experienced trainees aboard, Scott naturally became a role model for many of the younger cadets, who admired both his work ethic and his approachable manner.

Yet his personal vow to avoid romance was tested when the Vaadwaur incursions swept through the Delta Quadrant. During this tense period, Scott began a secret and passionate relationship with fellow cadet Jordan Duncan. The relationship was complicated from the start. Jordan had recently broken up with Alfie McCallister, and neither he nor Scott wanted the others to know. Despite the risks, their attraction was undeniable, and they sought every chance to be together, whether sneaking private moments in their quarters or spending long hours training together in the gym. For Scott, it was a reckless choice, but one that felt impossible to resist.

Their secret unravelled during the Astra’s mission to a terraformed moon where ancient Nacene technology began to interfere with the younger crew members’ minds, forcing hidden truths and desires to the surface. Under its influence, Jordan’s memories of his relationship with Scott came to light, leading to a painful confrontation with Alfie and ultimately the end of Scott and Jordan’s affair. Heartbroken but clear-eyed, Scott realised that his emotions had once again jeopardised his focus and future. Accepting that he could not continue aboard the Astra without being haunted by the past, Scott requested reassignment. By late 2402, he transferred to the Orion, determined to start fresh and prove himself as both a capable officer-in-training and someone who could finally strike the balance between his heart and his duty.
