First Officer on the Akira class USS Perseus, NCC-63832 with his wife Captain Sophia Rodriguez. He is a distinguished officer.

Appearance

Kirok Skyrunner was born in New Detroit City in 2355. He is currently 47 years old and stands approximately 5’10” in height and weighs around 200 pounds. He is a human male. He has a lean, athletic build. His brown hair is cut short, framing his determined face. A neatly trimmed goatee accentuates his strong jawline. His piercing eyes seem to bore into those he meets, as if sizing them up.

Personality

Kirok Skyrunner is a multifaceted individual, boasting an impressive array of qualities that make him an outstanding officer. His exceptional resourcefulness enables him to navigate intricate situations with ease, devising innovative solutions to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. As a strategic thinker, Kirok meticulously plans and analyzes every move, anticipating potential outcomes and adjusting his approach accordingly. His unwavering loyalty is a hallmark of his character, as he steadfastly stands by his allies and protects them with unshakeable dedication.

Kirok’s discipline is evident in his rigorous training regimen and unwavering commitment to his goals. His confidence is contagious, inspiring others with his assuredness and conviction. Kirok’s adaptability allows him to seamlessly adjust to changing circumstances, making him a formidable force in dynamic environments. Intellectually gifted, he possesses a keen mind capable of grasping intricate concepts and solving complex puzzles with ease. Above all, Kirok’s courage shines brightly, driving him to confront challenges head-on and safeguard those around him.

However, Kirok’s past is marred by traumatic experiences that continue to haunt him. The devastating loss of his parents during the Breen attack on Earth during the Dominion War has left an indelible mark on his psyche. As a cadet at the Academy at the time, Kirok felt helpless and vulnerable, unable to protect his loved ones. This sense of powerlessness has driven him to prove himself and make a difference in the galaxy, often pushing him to take risks and confront danger head-on. Though he has learned to cope with his emotions, the pain still lingers, and Kirok often struggles to open up to others, fearing vulnerability and emotional exposure.

The loss of his previous superior officer and secret love interest, Security Chief Nash from the USS New Orleans, has further complicated Kirok’s emotional landscape. Nash’s tragic death from an away team mission has left Kirok with overwhelming feelings of guilt, regret, and unresolved grief. He often finds himself wondering what could have been if Nash were still alive, and the weight of his unrequited love threatens to consume him. This emotional baggage can sometimes cloud Kirok’s judgment, leading to impulsive decisions and reckless behavior. However, several years after the death of Chief Nash, Skyrunner did find someone to love again, Captain Sophia Rodriguez, sister to the Chief Medical Officer Doctor Rodriguez from the USS New Orleans. Seeking comfort and not dealing with the constant pain he kept buried inside, he focused his energy on his new relationship.

Despite these emotional scars, Kirok remains a highly respected and accomplished officer. His colleagues admire his exceptional skills, bravery, and loyalty. However, those close to him know that beneath his confident exterior lies a complex and vulnerable individual, still grappling with the emotional aftermath of his past experiences. As Kirok navigates the challenges of his Starfleet career, he must also confront the demons of his past and learn to heal, in order to become the best version of himself.

History

Early Life (2355 to 2373)

Kirok Skyrunner was born on a crisp autumn morning in 2355, in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan, on Earth. Growing up in a bustling metropolis, Kirok was constantly surrounded by the hum of technology, the diversity of cultures, and the endless possibilities that came with living in a major urban center.

From a young age, Kirok demonstrated an insatiable curiosity and a passion for learning. He spent hours devouring books on science and mathematics, often to the chagrin of his parents, who would scold him for neglecting his chores.

Despite the occasional rebuke, Kirok’s parents, who were Starfleet Officers themselves, encouraged his academic pursuits, recognizing the fire of curiosity burning within their son. They supported his enrollment in advanced courses, hired tutors to supplement his education, and even took him on trips to visit renowned scientific institutions and historical landmarks. They also hoped that he would decide to enter the Academy after graduation from high school.

Kirok’s hard work and dedication paid off when he graduated as valedictorian from high school at the tender age of 18. His commencement speech, which emphasized the importance of perseverance, creativity, and community service, earned him a standing ovation from the packed auditorium.

Immediately after graduation, Kirok applied to Starfleet Academy, eager to pursue a career that would allow him to explore the galaxy, seek out new knowledge, and make a positive impact on the universe. His application, which included glowing letters of recommendation from his teachers and mentors, was met with enthusiasm by the Academy’s admissions committee.

Kirok was accepted into the Academy’s prestigious four-year program, where he would study advanced astrophysics, warp propulsion systems, and tactical operations, among other subjects. As he embarked on this journey, Kirok felt a sense of excitement, wonder, and trepidation, knowing that the challenges and opportunities ahead would shape his future in ways he could hardly imagine.

Starfleet Academy (2373 to 2375)

At Starfleet Academy, Kirok excelled in his studies, taking a mix of academic, practical, and physical training courses. During his freshman year, he studied subjects such as Introduction to Starfleet Operations, Astrophysics, and Exo-Biology, to name just a few classes. He also underwent practical training in Hand-to-Hand Combat, Phaser Training, and Shuttlecraft Operations. Additionally, he took an elective course in Starfleet History and Heritage, demonstrating his commitment to understanding the rich legacy of Starfleet.

As Kirok progressed to his sophomore year, he continued to build upon the foundational knowledge he gained during his freshman year. He studied advanced subjects such as Advanced Astrophysics, Exo-Planetary Science, and Alien Psychology. He also took additional classes in Advanced Hand-to-Hand Combat, Phaser Mastery, and Away Team Leadership. Furthermore, he took elective courses in Starfleet History and Diplomacy and Tactical Training, opening up the Command track training.

Tragedy struck when Kirok was 20 years old and a junior at Starfleet Academy. The Breen attacked Earth and Starfleet Command during the Dominion War in 2375, killing both of Kirok’s parents, who were Starfleet Officers posted at Headquarters. In response, Starfleet Command activated all junior and senior class cadets to active duty status, with a temporary field promotion to Acting Ensign, and posted them to active duty starships. Kirok was assigned to the USS Michigan, and Excelsior II class starship, NCC-61914, early in his junior year at the Academy.

USS Michigan, NCC-61914 (2375 to 2385)

Kirok’s service record is marked by distinction and bravery. He served as a Cargo deck officer on the USS Michigan as an Acting Ensign in 2375, due to Starfleet Command’s Orders to activate Junior and Senior year Cadets due to the Breen attack on Earth in 2375. He was promoted to full Ensign by the Michigan’s Commanding Officer, Captain Edward Lewis in 2377.

Ensign Kirok Skyrunner requested, and was granted, a transfer to Security, where he served as a junior Security officer from 2377 to 2379. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and posted as the Gamma Shift Supervisor from 2379 to 2380. Unfortunately, in 2380, Security Chief Samantha Nash was killed during an away team mission. Captain Lewis recommended Skyrunner be promoted to the rank of full Lieutenant and given the bridge position of Tactical Officer and Chief of Security.

Between 2380 and 2385, Lieutenant Skyrunner served as Security Chief and Bridge Tactical Officer, with distinction, honor, and bravery through several small challenges and conflicts. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander by Captain Lewis for his bravery in 2385.

The incident that caused the promotion to Lieutenant Commander also forced the USS Michigan to come back home to Earth for an overhaul and Command wanted to do some system upgrades as well. So the crew of the Michigan was given extended shore leave on Earth while the ship was in drydock at Utopia Planitia Shipyards in Mars orbit just after New Year’s 2385.

A few months later, in April 2385, a synthetic workers revolt happened at Utopia Planitia Shipyards which resulted in the destruction of the USS Michigan, with Captain Lewis and a skeleton crew on board. The Michigan was destroyed by a warp core breach that destroyed most of the shipyards. The crew of the Michigan ended up being reassigned to other ships near the end of the year.

Starfleet Academy (2385 to 2390)

After taking several months for special leave to process the loss of his Captain and ship, the USS Michigan, as a result of the synthetic workers revolt, Lieutenant Commander Skyrunner decided to accept a teaching offer at the Academy. He started teaching Combat Tactics and Strategy for Mission Operations from April 2385 to 2390. In 2390, after teaching classes at the Academy for 5 years, Skyrunner decided he wanted some action back in his life. He found being stuck behind a desk boring. So, he talked with Starfleet Command and requested a ship assignment. In 2390, Lieutenant Commander Kirok Skyrunner was assigned to a new ship, an Akira-class cruiser, the USS Thunderdragon, NCC-63832, as Executive Officer, with a promotion to full Commander.

USS Thunderdragon, NCC-63832 (2390 to 2402)

Commander Kirok Skyrunner served as First Officer on the USS Thunderdragon, alongside his wife, Captain Sophia Rodriguez. Throughout his career, Kirok had demonstrated exceptional leadership, bravery, and dedication to duty. His experiences have shaped him into a complex and nuanced individual, driven by a strong sense of justice and a desire to protect those he cares about.

USS Carlsbad, NCC-73110 (2402 to Present)

Commander Kirok Skyrunner, being reluctant to accept a previous command, had a promotion to the rank of Captain and assigned his own command, as a favor from the Commander in Chief of Starfleet Operations, who happened to be a close friend of Skyrunner’s wife Captain Sophia Rodriguez. Captain Rodriguez, as a practical joke, got her husband promoted and transferred to the Carlsbad, a California class utility class ship. Both Skyrunner and Rodriguez always teased each other since they were married. Captain Kirok Skyrunner is currently in command of the USS Carlsbad.
