Summary
Chief Flight officer of the USS Wells, Clayton was a former combat and covert operations pilot who got their start as a young civilian during the Dominion War. Now they put their extensive experience to play keeping the Wells flying clear and fast.
Personality
One would not normally expect a combat and covert operations pilot to be a cautious person, but Clayton learned a long time ago that recklessness and daring feats of skill were two different things. They know exactly how far they can push and stay within the margins as long as they can to not add unecessary risk to a mission.
History
An experienced combat pilot who grew up in the Cardassian Militarized Zone, Clayton had long had an interest in flight as a way to leave their home and escape the constant fighting. However, with the outbreak of the Dominion War, they found their skills put to use running supplies and evacuating civilians from combat zones.
Following the end of the War, they apprenticed to an interstellar shipping conglomorate transporting supplies for the rebuilding efforts. When the Romulan evacuation efforts began, Clayton was brought into Starfleet on a field commission to pilot one of the evacuation ships, a dream that died during the Attack on Mars.
Determined to do something to try and help, they volunteered for a special task force to look into alternative plans for helping the Romulans, during which they met T’press. In the wake of Romulus’ destruction, they were recruited into Intelligence in 2388 so that their piloting expertise would aid in covert operations in the Triangle.
In 2393, they became a general flight specialist providing piloting services for starships, shuttles, and other vessels performing covert work. When Grigor’s former team was posted back to the Triangle in 2401 on the USS Wells, Clayton requested a transfer to serve as Chief Flight Officer.
