Following the failure of the mission to Ruhoka, the crew has been transferred to the Wells. Stationed out of Acamar, the Wells has been assigned to anti-piracy patrols near Acamar. The instability caused by Frontier Day and the Klingon attack on the Romulans has allowed pirate activity to surge in the area. The Wells has been sent to assess the situation and the strength of the pirate groups in preparation for fleet action against them. But when a mysterious distress call is received, the crew finds themselves with a much more sinister situation.
