USS San Diego is continuing a long-term mission patrolling the edge of the old romulan neutral zone, this mission comprises multiple objectives such as second contacts, science surveys as well as logistical support for federation colonies and Starbases 418 and 23. Anti-Piracy is not a main objective, but USS San Diego is equipped for dealing with cross-border pirates in small ships and can intercept them relatively quickly.

This is a continuation of a larger mission from 2401 under a new captain.
