The next time Marcus picked up the book,  he saw he was near the end of what Smirk had

Day 105-

Now there was no shortage of predatory fauna around us. Likened to wolves or tigers, but some could get to the size of a Terran horse. Most of the time, the fences and huts kept them at bay.

Locals were occasionally taken by them, and we had lost a few crew to them as well. Like in any survival situation, this wasn’t unusual.

What made us really suspect our neighbors wasn’t found until it was far too late. We found human remains; we knew because the body had five fingers and toes; our locals had six fingers on their right hands.

The Doctor was able to determine it was our most recently lost Ensign Grant, and the manner of death was inconsistent with any animal. Knife cuts were found where someone had cut his flesh from the bone.

We knew the Mirians were carnivores, we did not know they were also cannibals.

It had never occurred to us why they had so readily welcomed us into their village. It was because we were a food source.

We tried to move to a location that was closer to our former ship. But we were not nearly as protected without the huts or fences, and slowly we were picked off. The locals  also found out where we went. So, between them and the actual beasts, it was just a matter of time before I would be taken as well. I don’t know if it will be the locals or the beasts, but I know it won’t be much longer.

Day unknown-

I have lost track of time in all the running and hiding. I WILL RUN NO MORE.

My real name is Krim’s Djon. A half Klingon who was originally sent to spy and report back. But I fell in love with a human. Had kids with her, all fully human by looks. The genetic adjustments the Klingons made to me carried on in my children.

I feel to go to Sto’Vo’Kor I must admit this fully. Furthermore, I must face my last moments for the Glory and Honor of Star fleet.

Remember me as a brave warrior who did his best to protect those he served with. Even in these most dire of circumstances.

I have written the introduction and now go to fight.

Today is a good day to die.

Captain Smirk aka Krims D’Jon

USS Smaug and House of D’jon

Klingons are born, live as warriors, then die.

Marcus closed the book with great regard. He would have to tell the Commander and see what her recommendation was for what Marcus had found. For now he had put the safety warnings in the ships database and knew that any further trips might be at great risk once the locals discover their treasure was missing.
