Location: USS Paso Robles, Sickbay

“How are you feeling Zara or is it Lox, or is it both?” Mira asked, not wanting to be disrespectful to either of them.

“That’s a good question and answer it it’s Zara, my personality might change but it’s a lot to take in right now. As far as how I’m feeling overwhelmed.” Zara said a little tired.

Aria had her in isolation for the time being that way she could rest without a hundred people coming in to try to talk to her. Only four people are allowed to see her. Three people that weren’t the medical staff.

Renato, Mira,and Teral. They were the only three allowed to see her, beyond the medical personnel.

“I don’t want to take up too much of your time, take as much time as you need to recuperate. I heard rise in the holodeck’s pretty nice this time of year.” Mira said with the big teething grin on her face.

“I’ll be back on my feet in a day or so Commander.” Zara said, convincing herself that she be ready to go by tomorrow but she was giving herself an extra 24 hours just to be on the safe side.

“I’m serious take it easy, you’ll be back soon enough before you know it you’ll be begging for a vacation.” Mira said with a big grin on her face.

“I know I would like a vacation, but Starfleet has other plans for us. So take advantage of this time. I mean it.” Mira playfully ordered Zara.

“I’ll do my best, Commander.” Zara said as she let out a weak smile. She wasn’t weak at all but it was a little overwhelming getting used to the second personality plus the slight discomfort from the surgery. She felt like she could do more but she knew that Ariana would come and glued on her. The Trill institute gave her specific instructions for Zara recovery.

“The good doctor won’t tell me, but I can tell that the ships under warp speed. What’s our new mission?” Zara asked, being a little stir crazy and wanting some information to give her some excitement right now.

“We’re meeting up with the USS Oakland at Starbase Bravo, and from there we’re going to bring her back to Home Port. Just a milk run nothing get too excited over. They’re HomePort happened to be Overwatch Station.

“Are you guys planning on stopping at Starbase Bravo?” Zara asked, wondering if they had time to go visit the promenade.

“No not this time, by time we get back we should have a new Mission according to Commodore Coleman.” Mira suggested to Zara.

“Sounds like a babysitting gig to me. Let me guess because the Oakland needs to go through some trial runs and they don’t want her going alone until she prove when she spaceworthy again?” Is Zara ass trying to figure out how they got lucky with this assignment.

He didn’t really mean lucky babysitting assignments were kind of boring but they did allow for some down time so there was that at least.

“You got it lieutenant, but hey it gives us a little bit of extra time in the holiday I guess.” Mira said in a teasing voice.

“You mean the same holodeck, I can’t visit because I’m bed ridden and at least until tomorrow?” Zara asked with the playful grin of her own.

“Look at it this way you can reserve anytime you want in a couple days, and once you get out of here you probably won’t go back to duty for at least another 24 hours after that so you have plenty of time in the holodeck.” Mira suggested to her with a grin.

“I suppose you’re right. I don’t suppose you can get me some sherbet ice cream can you?” Is there an asked. She had a strange craving for it.

“Sherbert really?” Mira ask, thinking to yourself yes I have the right amount of sugar but yeah no chocolate in it so why would anyone want that.

“I’ve always liked sherbert, and I’m curious to see if the symbiote does?” Zara suggested to Mira.

“Well this is the best place to test us. No better place than here in sickbay.” Mira said that she walked over to the replicator, Aria didn’t give her any food restrictions far she knew so better to ask forgiveness and permission she thought to herself. Plus she was also trying to comfort Zara.

“Rainbow flavors fine, I like a little bit of all of them.” Zara said knowing I was going to be her next question.

After replicating a bowl, Mira walked back over to Zara and handed it to her. Zara had a big smile on her face, and she took the bull and sat up and slowly started to consume it.

Zara had a big smile on her face as she took a couple bites. “Thank you so much, I needed this.” She said that she took a couple more bites enjoying the flavor and the texturing.

“No problem, but I am serious I want you to take it easy the doctor will clear you soon enough. Enjoy this time off.” Mira said with a serious look on her face.

“Okay okay, you win. I’ll take it easy, as long as the sherbet ice cream keeps coming.” Zara said in a teasing tone.

“I don’t know how you can do it, I prefer chocolate ice cream myself.” Mary said with a big teasing grin on her face.

“I’m probably the only lady here that say this, but I’m not a huge chocolate fan.” Zara said to Mira. It was pretty courageous of her to say because she knew a lot of women love chocolate. She just wasn’t one of them.

“To each their own I suppose, but hey at least you like ice cream.” Mira said to her, with a big smile on her face.

“All joking inside I really do appreciate you taking some time to come down and see me today Commander.” Zara said with the tone of sincerity in her voice.

“It’s not a problem at all, I’m glad you allowed me to come visit you.” Mira said and she took her hand for a second.”can’t imagine what you’re going through right now but you’re not alone in this quite literally you have a symbiote inside of you but you also have your friends around you if you need us.”

“I understand, I think these extra steps are precautionary just because I wasn’t presented these options earlier in my development shall we say no I think the institute is just being a little over cautious. But Lox and The institute want me to take it easy for the next couple days. So who I might argue I guess.”

“Oh I get it, I remember when I first learned about my telepathic abilities and having to learn how to control them and how they were overwhelming from a young age. And then learning how to really control them when I joined Starfleet and I learned that other species don’t like to be telepathic or they can’t be. Even though our symptoms are totally different as some ways I can definitely relate.”

“How did you cope?” Zara asked, wondering if she had any kind of techniques for coping with her new reality.

“An interesting question, I just look at one day at a time and then the next thing I know is I was coping with it. Instead of focusing on the bigger picture I just chose to focus on the day and then one day turned into two then turned into three turned into 20 I think you get the point.” Mira suggested.

“I appreciate you sharing that with me.” Zara said at the scene starts to fade away.
