Katie needed at the roundabouts were in route to the Moon surface, she got back to science lab one and walked into her office, a couple of scientists were already at work. For the moment they didn’t seem like he needed her attention.

She started to review her progression reports from all the current labs, most of the reports they were working on,were routine diagnostic checks. Most of the labs, had come completed those checks. It was really nothing that caught her attention.

Elsie walked into science lab one, she had a feeling that Katie would need some cheering up. She was discovered by the crew immediately. “Attention on Deck.”

The sudden announcement from her crew, drew the attention of Katie, as she poke her head out of her office. She noticed Elsie and walked towards her, then snapped to the position of attention.

“There you are Lieutenant, let’s talk in you’re office.” Elsie said with a big grin on her face.

“Of course Commodore, this way please.” Katie suggested as she motioned for Elsie to follow her.

Elsie followed her into her office. Once they arrive, Katie offered her her chair and she noticed that Elsie motion that they should sit at the sofa in the office. Kitty simply nodded and they both sat down.

“You’re not in trouble, you look a little tense.” Elsie started to say with the big grin on her face. In reality she only came down for two reasons one because it was that time of day where she had to do her patrols and the second reason more importantly she wanted to make sure Katie was all right. She knew for a new department head that not always going in all the key missions could make one second guess themselves.

“Of course ma’am, sorry I’m a little distracted with the current Mission going on. Kind of hard not leading the mission myself.” Katie suggested to her.

“Station life is definitely different than Starship life, on the Starship of normally the chief science officer goes at all the missions. On a station most of the time it’s just the crew, this is a good opportunity for you to advance in your career with Starfleet.” Elsie suggested to her with a warm smile still on her face.

“Yeah you’re right, and I realize I. Guess I just didn’t realize how hard it was going to hit me knowing that I wouldn’t be going on all the missions.” Katie pointed out to her.

“Oh trust me I understand when I accepted promotion from first officer of the USS Sirona, it was hard for me to accept my new command. Having my first officer go out on all the missions while I had to stay on the bridge and lead thanks from afar. So trust me when I say I know exactly what you mean.” Elsie point it out to her.

“Have you checked in with the away teams?” Elsie asked. She was just curious if she had.

“I haven’t talked to them since they left the shuttle bay. Chief Carson team is ready to go and petty officer first class Montgomery’s team is ready to go to. I advise them to message me when they get to the surface. It should be any minute now you’re more than welcome to stay for it?”

“Actually I can stay for a couple minutes, just making my rounds checking out all the departments.” Elsie said to Katie.

“I understand, any feedback you want to offer me or to this department?” Katie asked what the playful smile.

“Your doing a pretty good job, you should be very proud of them.” Elsie said to Katie.

“I am proud of them, ma’am.” Katie started to say, as her intercom started going off.

“I think that’s my cue to leave.” Elsie said with a big grin on her face as she stood up and prepared to walk towards the door out of the office.

“I appreciate the visit ma’am.” Katie said as she walked her to the office, and then she called out.

“Computer open the channel.” Katie said if she walked back towards your monitor, then took a seat in her chair waiting for the image to appear.

“Ma’am whatever successfully made it to the surface, we’re getting our test equipment set up. Estimate about 2 hours for full setup and then we’ll rest for the night just to let the data track overnight.” Chief Carson suggested to Katie.

“Understood chief, keep me updated if anything changes otherwise I’ll see you guys in a week and I do want daily updates so either transmit them and I think we should have at least a conversation daily too by subspace.” Katie ordered.

“Understood ma’am. Will make you proud.” Chief Carson said with the big boasting smile.

“I know you will chief, I know you will. Have a fun week, Woodward out.” Katie said as she close the channel.

Location: USS Mare Cognitum, Office Area

Chief Carson simply not it is bad, he could tell that his CO was a little bummed out. “Our new DH is taking it well, most of the time of department head on a Starship Lizzy’s missions but out here it’s us chief’s that do the work.” He suggested as he looked to you the other three in the room. They all thought that the conversation was going to be a little bit longer.

But it clearly wasn’t going to be that much longer, Keith then started to give out orders to the crew about completing their assignments so they could all rest for the night. The other runabout was right next to them, so he was going to head over and see how the other team was doing even though he was only in command of the first round about he was in command overall mission as well so he needed to check in with them as well.

Petty off their first class Montgomery was in charge of the other runabout but he was overall in charge of the mission. He had never worked with Petty official first class Montgomery before so this was going to be new for him.

After making sure his crew is all situated, he started to gather his thoughts and was getting ready to talk to petty officer first class in montgomery, he wanted to make sure her team was set to go for the night. Because first thing in the morning they were going to hit the results hard and try to transmit that data back to Overwatch Station.

For Keith there was a secondary reason why he wanted this mission to go well, if he spent the next year to a year and a half getting good and favorable reviews about his missions he could be considered for the warrant officer program. He’d already passed on becoming a commissioned officer. But he really liked it being a warrant officer.

It was one of his goals, and he was going to do everything within his ability to make sure that he was able to accomplish that goal. So if it meant he had to micromanage a little bit, then that’s what he was going to do because nothing was going to stop from reaching his goal. He didn’t always want to micromanage but he needed to get them on par, and the best way of doing that was to set the expectations that he demanded. As he gathered his things the scene starts to fade away.
